about
An excerpted track from my audiopoetic album "Earthikana Soultonix: Urbanite Folksongs Written on Chalk Stain'd Concrete." I wrote the song shortly after the 9II incident and at the time I did not feel safe communicating my sentiments regarding fauxpatriotism. At the time the there was a great deal of flag waving and witch hunts but ballot box presence, and if necessary revolutionary overhaul of the entire governmental system are the keys to change.
Today, it is much safer to speak about this unsettling issues, because we, as a global consciousness, are undergoing a change-- our financial systems, industrial food production methods, and even our political ideals are shifting. A lot has happened since the days of yore; greater global communication, and my own comfort with my words and ideals.
Somewhere THESE sounds are gunshots,
Somewhere these sounds are missiles;
Somewhere these sounds are bombs droppin' on little houses, homes and families:
Any revolution born through violence
Will bring you nothing more but the same.
[Oh beautiful for spacious skies
for Amber waves of grain....]
Fighting without reason:
One hundred million enslaved.
Killing in the masses with your color TV,
With your Color TV craze
LIES in your Shit,
and you're milking the dead.
I am an Amerikant
I am an Amerikant
Now Watch and listen closely
As I do my next trick,
I'll stab you with my knife,
Stab you with my knife
So that everything I say sticks
I am an Amerikant
I am an Amerikant
I am an Amerikant
I am an Amerikant
Kill the filth,
Or you'll be dead!
Just a number on their desk.
Don't be silent,
make some noise.
Get up stand up
and fuck those whores.
But Today
--AMERIKA!
--AMERIKA!
This fourth of July,
--I MAKE MY PEACE WITH THEE,
These are said to be the sounds of independence
--WITH TRIBALHOOD
--FROM BROTHERHOOD,
These are said to be the sounds of freedom, joy, family
--FROM SEA TO SHINING SEA.
and togetherness.
To the dogs, crying, shrieking with pain from hurt ear drums
and to the birds with smoke filled lungs,
I apologize.
Don't worry....
Tomorrow this will all be forgotten.
I Love you.
